Happy Holidays KB

Thank you for following KB's blog this term.

It is amazing how quickly the term has flown by and how many activities have occurred during the nine weeks.

If you would like to see the Kindys perform their song for the Year 12 Graduation Assembly,  the Live Stream is at this link.

The assembly starts at 9.30am if you want to tune in then or watch it later on.

I would like to wish all our families a very safe, restful and refreshing holiday.

See you next term!

Science

Hello Everyone,
Today we completed the last lesson on weather for our Science unit this term.
The student's task was to experiment with different materials that could move depending on the intensity of the wind. They attached light and heavier materials to a coat hanger and then we went outside to see what would happen.
We found some places in our playground were more windy than others and some areas created a wind tunnel.
The students had to observe their 'wind monitor' and describe what was happening to the different materials.
Here are some photos of the students making their 'wind monitors'.

Operation Christmas Child Boxes

Dear Parents,
Thank you for your generous contributions to the Operation Christmas Child Box Appeal.
In KB we have managed to almost fill two boy boxes and two girl boxes.
The children had a turn of packing the boxes today and had many suggestions as to which items should go together and which items needed to go into each box.
It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm towards helping others who are less fortunate.

Caring For Our Environment

Hello Everyone,
On Wednesday, Kindergarten came together to watch a short film on recycling. We discovered that paper, glass and some plastics are melted down and reused again.
After the video, the students were asked to sort 'clean' rubbish into recyclable and non-recyclable categories.
There was a lot of discussion required to help students to choose which hoop to place their items into.
Well done Kindergarten. You are our future caretakers of the environment.

Q is for Quilts

In art each week we try to create something that ties in with the letter of the week.
This week our letter was 'Q'.
Our task was to create a class school quilt by allowing students to draw pictures related to school or their own interests.
Here is KB's paper quilt.

Father's Day Breakfast

Hello Everyone,
Our fathers were very welcome today at the Father's Day Breakfast. The children enjoyed the special event and loved 'showing off' their classroom to their dads.
To all our dads, have a wonderful Father's Day on Sunday.

Wednesday Sport

Hello Everyone,
Kindergarten thoroughly enjoyed a circuit that involved fundamental movement skills in sport today.
The Year 9 PE class did a fantastic job of organising and running each circuit.
It was not an easy job as the wind blew away the balls, markers and hats off student's heads.
Well done Year 9!
