Kindy News Week 5

This Week In KB

Hello Everyone,
It has been another wonderful week of learning in KB.
The highlight of the week has been listening to all the very brave students who presented their speeches. We had the following topics; recycling, food, pets, exercise, my mum, being kind, happy and loving one another, meat, soccer and being clean.
Thank you to all the parents for assisting your child in the preparation of their speech. They all did an amazing job.
We have also been learning about Area in Maths and how to measure it.
In our Literacy Unit, Fun In The Sun, we have learnt all about rockpools and written about the creatures we can find in a rockpool. We also learnt many facts about these creatures from the 'News Topics' this week.
Lastly, Kindergarten had fun making Chinese traditional hats in Mandarin.
Don't they look cute?

Hello Everyone,
Here are some photos to share with you from Blaxland Riverside Park. I think it may have been the highlight of the day. The children had a wonderful time climbing, sliding, swinging and running around.

Kinder Excursion ( Mangroves and Tower Part 2 )

The next stage of the excursion was to look at a natural environment - the mangroves.

We also climbed a tower to observe the forest, mangroves and built environment in the distance.
We certainly had a good workout climbing those stairs!

Kinder Excursion To Olympic Park (Study Centre Part 1)

Hello Everyone,
Kindergarten students, parent helpers and teachers had a wonderful day at Olympic Park.
There were animals in fish tanks to look at including Petal the long-necked turtle, Queasy the green tree frog, stick insect and yabbies.
We learnt about the mangroves and the creatures that live in that environment.

Operation Christmas Boxes Update

Hello Everyone,
It was wonderful to see the Christmas boxes all stacked and ready for pick up today.
There were about 240 boxes in the Junior School foyer.
What a fantastic effort by the Junior School families.
Thank you for your contributions.

Fun In The Sun Literacy Unit

Hello Everyone,
This week we launched our new literacy unit for this term.
On Wednesday afternoon we packed a suitcase with things we would need for a holiday.
The children had to think about where we might go on our imaginary holiday.
On Thursday morning the children discovered a beach tent and pretend campfire in the middle of the Kinder classrooms.
After much discussion, all was revealed about our theme for the literacy unit.

Here are the children listening to 'beach sounds'.

We also sang a song around the campfire.

Mrs Collins read the story Greetings From Sandy Beach by Bob Graham.

To conclude the lesson we had a 'holiday photo' of KB.

Kindy News Week 2 Term 4

Hello Everyone,
Welcome back to Term 4. I hope all the families and children have had a refreshing break.
It was wonderful to have some lovely warm days in the holidays and to enjoy the sunshine.

In the Kindy News, you'll find a brief explanation of our topics this term.

Your child should have brought home two notes today (excursion and public speaking). Please carefully read both notes and return the permission note for the excursion as soon as possible.
If you have not purchased an excursion bag, you will need to do so for the excursion. (from the uniform shop)
Thank you for all the offers of parent help for the excursion. Unfortunately, we can only have two helpers per class.

Looking forward to a wonderful term,

Kind regards,
Mrs Blake
